CLEVELAND -- Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man accused of trying to abduct a girl last Tuesday.
According to a police report, the girl was walking to school northbound on E. 81st Street toward Euclid Avenue when she encountered a man who was talking to himself.
When the girl tried to pass the man, he grabbed her around the neck and attempted to drag her behind a house into a field The girl said she kicked the suspect in the groin, causing him to release her.
The girl ran home to her mother, who called police.
A witness told police she saw the incident when she was looking out her window and saw the suspect run toward Euclid Avenue. The witness described the man as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown boots.
The girl said the man had a "low scraggly salt and pepper beard, was of thin build and about 5-foot-9.
