Coventry's Big Fun toy store announces closure

Cleveland's favorite toy shop is saying goodbye.

CLEVELAND -- A Cleveland staple that has provided both kids and adults with doses of nostalgia has announced its end.

Coventry's Big Fun toy store announced its plans to close its doors, starting with a half-off sale beginning Feb. 2. An exact closing date has not been given.

According to the shop's website, everything will be 50 percent off. Since the shop has so much inventory, it's expanding its closing sale to Vintage Apparel, located down the street at 1782 Coventry Road.

Big Fun has served the Cleveland toy and collectors' community for 27 years. Its west side location closed in 2015.

Owner Steve Presser posted a farewell message to the store's website, writing in part, "This is a decision that is incredibly difficult. There are so many variables to this equation…so many layers and so many people involved. This decision is being made after countless hours of discussion with Family, Friends, and business colleagues, whom I respect dearly. So with heavy heart….I have decided to close Big Fun on Coventry."
