CLEVELAND — The fifth annual Sunset Spring 5K/10K is returning to Cleveland Metroparks Edgewater Park later this summer, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission announced on Tuesday.

The race will take runners along the all-purpose trail at Edgewater Park’s lower and upper areas. The 10K version of the race will feature two loops of the route used in the 5K and will be chip-timed.

While those races are in their fifth edition, this year features a new 1-Mile Fun Run for families and children. This race will not be chip-timed, but will be great for racers of all ages. Like both the 5K and 10K, the 1-Mile Fun Run is dog-friendly.

The first 300 people to register for the event will receive a race T-shirt, official race bib, reusable bag and beverage voucher to be used following the event. There will also be on-site ice cream provided from Honey Hut. Each participant will also receive their results and on-site gear check from The Shamrock Companies.

The event is set to take place on Friday, Sept. 9, at 5:30 p.m. and there are multiple ways to register. Online registration is available up until Sept. 7 at 11:59 p.m. There will also be on-site registration available on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 9, starting at 4 p.m. Registration prices are $30-$35 for adults and $20-$25 for children via online registration and $35-$40 for adults and $25-$30 for children if done on site.

There will be awards provided to the top three male and female overall finishers as well as the top three finishers in each age group, of which there are 12.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission. For more information, visit clevelandsports.org.
