The freeing power of art is the resounding theme of the Weapons of Mass Creation Festival at PlayHouse Square but perhaps no one knows that power better than Michelle Knight.

She was one of the three women held captive for more than a decade by Ariel Castro.

In her presentation, she described it as a huge weight lifted off of her shoulders when she first left Castro's house.

Now she has found an outlet by drawing, singing and even gardening.

Lily Rose Lee, the name she gave herself after she was freed from captivity, said the only thing she wanted aspiring artists to take away from this event is never give up.

She said, "I want them to take away the hope and the courage and the strength to never give up no matter what's happening in your life, always know as long as you have a good support system around you and you have people who love and care for you that you will never fall.”
