Playhouse Square plans 34-story apartment building

The Playhouse Square district has announced plans to add a 34-story apartment building beginning this fall.

The upscale apartments will consist of 22,000 square feet to host 319 units and 550 parking spots. The building will sit at the corner of Euclid Avenue and E. 17th Street, across from Connor Palace.

Officials say construction is scheduled to begin in late fall this year. The tower should be complete in early 2020.

Developer Hines and Soloman Cordwell Buenz has designed the building to be one of district's tallest, with glass stretching from floor to ceiling, painted aluminum panels and exposed cast-in-place concrete.

Amenities will include a courtyard terrace, pet spa, fitness center, heated lap pool and car charging and wash areas.

“We have always taken a lead role in making sure our neighborhood is a vibrant destination in the heart of the city,” Playhouse Square President and CEO Art J. Falco said in a news release issued Friday. “Early on, we created a list of things we wanted to accomplish – become a premier touring destination for Broadway, welcome residents, develop an iconic identity for the neighborhood – and with each success building on the one before, we have achieved those goals. A high-rise development project is the next one of our long-held visions becoming a reality, and with the great demand for residential living downtown, the timing could not be better.”
