Police are investigating the death of a 15-year-old who was shot and killed in a back yard Wednesday evening.

According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner, Dre'eon Gray, of South Euclid, died at University Hospitals Medical Center last night.

Police say Gray was found with a trio of gunshot wounds in a back yard at the 900 block of Pembrook. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

Police have not released any information on potential suspects.

"I heard these two shots but I thought it was firecrackers," Brandon Haynes said.

Haynes lives in the 900 block of Pembrook in Cleveland Heights. He came outside Wednesday around 6 p.m. when he saw a commotion in his neighbor's backyard.

"I see these two little boys talking to police officers, so I'm like, 'What happened?' and he was crying like his friend just got shot," Haynes said.

According to the police report, Gray was shot in the right hip and the bullet exited through his left shoulder. He was also shot in the right hand.

According to South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools, Gray withdrew from classes in mid-January. They didn't have information about whether he had enrolled somewhere else.
