Cuyahoga Community College student arrested for carrying a gun

The 21-year-old from North Olmsted was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm in a school safety zone.

A Cuyahoga Community College student was arrested on Tuesday in Westlake when police discovered he was carrying a gun.

The 21-year-old student from North Olmsted was on campus at Tri-C's Corporate College when police there received information that he might be in possession of a firearm. Tri-C Police contacted the Westlake Police Department and found the student in class.

After questioning, police found that the student was carrying a handgun. He was arrested on felony charges of Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of a Firearm in a School Safety Zone.

There were no known threats made to the school and police say the student never brandished the handgun.
