The suspect wanted in the stabbing death of a woman on Cleveland's west side is now in custody.
Cleveland Police began investigating the death of a woman early Sunday morning after her body was found with multiple stab wounds to the throat.
Her body was found near 15014 Montrose Avenue.
While few details were released at that time, police began investigating the death as a homicide.
Police announced around 6 p.m. that a male suspect was taken into custody following a standoff.
Officials identified the suspect as 65-year-old Dale Peters.
Police investigations revealed that the victim had a protection order against Peters.
When officers arrived at Peters' home in the 14600 block of Birchwood they found him inside his car in the driveway.
At that time, Peters placed a large knife to his neck and threatened to harm himself or the officers.
Crisis negotiators and SWAT were called to the scene.
After several hours, Peters exited the car and began stabbing himself repeatedly in the nose.
He was taken into police custody and transported to Metro Health Hospitals for treatment.
