The Chardon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that took place in Burton Township on Wednesday evening.
Troopers say a motorcycle operated by Andrew W. Jenneman of Southington, Ohio was traveling eastbound on State Route 87 and struck a deer that had entered the roadway.
After colliding with the deer, the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway and came to a final rest in a ditch. Andrew Jenneman, and his passenger, Deborah Jenneman, were both ejected from the motorcycle.
Andrew Jenneman sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at Geauga Hospital.
Deborah Jenneman suffered minor injuries and was transported to Geauga Hospital by Burton Township EMS.
Neither person was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Investigators do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office, and Burton Township Fire & EMS assisted at the scene.
