UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — People often say a couple's wedding day is dedicated to them, since it's an entire day, celebrating their love. But that idea was taken a step further when a University Heights couple tied the knot a few weeks ago, and got the date proclaimed in their honor.

Meet Stephanie Metzger and Patrick Lawrence, who share their love story on this week's episode of It's All Good (News!) with Stephanie Haney

The pair finally got married on August 25, almost a full year after their original September 2020 plans. When you have to wait a whole extra year to get married, why not do it in Greece, right?

The couple tells us they had always planned to have their wedding in Greece, but with COVID-19 still prevalent, they decided just to go by themselves. But of course, they had to come home and do a small, intimate ceremony to make the marriage legal.

And that's where this story gets even better. Stephanie and Patrick had a short ceremony at University Heights City Hall, where Mayor Michael Dylan Brennan declared their legal wedding day of September 24, 2021 as "Stephanie Metzger and Patrick Lawrence Day" in the city!

Stephanie tells us the city does this for its residents because the population is only 13,000, so they can treat their newlyweds a little extra special.

Full disclosure, Stephanie is a former WKYC employee, working on our digital team for years. So we cannot wait to celebrate "Stephanie Metzger and Patrick Lawrence Day" next year! Congrats to this happy couple!
