Painesville Police are investigating a pair of shootings that have taken place on Thursday.

Just after 12:00 p.m., there was a report of gunshots at the 700 block of E. Erie Street. Two males fled the scene on foot and the surrounding areas were blocked off.

Elm Street School was placed on secure status due to its proximity to the shooting location.

No one was injured, however the suspect remains at large.

At 1:41 p.m., police responded to the area of Mentor Avenue and Chatfield for another report of gunshots.

An adult male was found with a gunshot wound to his right leg.

The suspect for this shooting is described as a light skinned African American male wearing a green hooded sweatshirt with dreadlocks, and he left in a newer white Jeep.

The victim was transported to Tri-Point Medical Center and his condition is unknown.

Police are not saying whether the two shootings are connected.
