Part of Vrooman Road in Lake County is closing for good.
ODOT has ordered Vrooman Road between the Grand River and State Route 84 permanently closed, effective at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night.
Lake County Engineers had planned to the close the road Monday, new concerns about the strength of the retaining wall supporting the road expedited the closure.
Construction of a new high level bridge across the river starts this summer. It will take about a year for that bridge to open to traffic.
ODOT says when the high level bridge is complete, the section of Vrooman Road that is closed will no longer exist. The new Vrooman Road will align with Lane Road to the east.
