Keystone High School student dies in early morning crash

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

CARLISLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A 17-year-old Elyria boy has died following a crash early Wednesday morning in Lorain County.

Upon responding to the scene near 10886 West Ridge Road in Carlisle Township, authorities found a 17-year-old boy inside an overturned 2002 Chevrolet Blazer.

The vehicle was in a ditch.

The teen, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been identified as Kayden Williams, a junior at Keystone High School in LaGrange. The school district released this statement on his passing a short time ago:

We lost a member of our Keystone family today as junior Kayden Williams was in a fatal car accident. As we mourn this loss, we offer our prayers and deepest sympathy to Kayden's family and friends. We are opening the High School cafeteria and study hall this evening from 6-8pm for anyone that wants to come together and grieve the loss of Kayden.

Kayden was also a member of the school's football team. Those in the community are taking to social media to react to his death.

Investigators say neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have played a role in the crash.

Although it's unclear what time the accident happened, authorities say they received a call about it around 3:59 a.m.
