MANSFIELD -- A 7-Eleven gas station was robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday in Mansfield, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Office.

According to the clerk, a male entered the business, at 876 Park Ave. E., just before 1 a.m. and jumped over the counter.

She said the man, who had a gun, demanded she give him cash. She turned over $62, which included rolls of pennies.

He also took 10 packs of Newport green menthol 100's valued at $62.50, according to a police report.

He left on foot.

He is described a black male, 6-foot and 220 pounds dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, black tennis shoes with white trim and red markings on the bottom, a black ball cap with a red bill and white latex gloves.
