PLYMOUTH - A body recovered Sunday morning from a vehicle that went into an icy pond south of Plymouth sometime overnight has been identified as a 61-year-old woman.

Richland County Coroner's investigator Bob Ball said Sunday afternoon the woman was April Puckett, from the Shiloh area.

Puckett, who was found in the driver's seat, was pronounced dead by the Richland County coroner at 11:47 a.m. Sunday, Ball said. It is unknown how long Puckett and the vehicle were in the water.

Major Joe Masi with the Richland County Sheriff's Office said Sunday morning the pond in the 7600 block of Plymouth Springmill Road, about two miles south of Plymouth. had frozen over

A Richland County Sheriff's Office dispatcher said the incident was reported at 8:15 a.m. Sunday. According to a sheriff's office press release, the caller reported a vehicle was possibly submerged in a pond.

Masi said the "driver may have been disoriented."

Ball said the vehicle, a blue 2017 Hyundai, unknown model, was found fully submerged in the pond.

Puckettt's body is scheduled for an autopsy in Montgomery County on Monday, Ball said.

Dive teams from the Richland County Sheriff's Office and Shelby Fire Department responded to the scene and helped remove the vehicle from the water after first responders from the sheriff's office and Plymouth Fire Department requested the activation of the dive team.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Richland County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Section at 419-774-5610.
