Police say a North Canton man has died at Aultman Hospital from injuries he suffered in a crash Thursday morning.
Police continue to investigate a fatal crash involving two cars just after 10:30 Thursday morning in the 500 block of Applegrove Street NW.
Police say the preliminary investigation indicates a driver in a red Rav4 Toyota, was exiting from a business driveway onto Applegrove when it was driven into the path of a westbound motorist driving a white Nissan Xterra SUV.
The Nissan SUV struck the Toyota on the driver's side. Police say the Toyota careened off the south side of roadway onto a construction site. The Nissan SUV flipped onto its passenger side and ended up in the eastbound lanes of Applegrove facing east.
The driver of the Nissan SUV, Majed Fallouh, 19, of North Canton, was taken to Aultman Hospital and treated and released with a minor leg injury. His passenger, 16, ran from the scene but was located a short time later in the 1100 block of Apple Street NE by a detective and was returned to the crash scene, police said.
He was taken to Aultman Hospital for medical evaluation.
The driver Rav4 Toyota was Ronald D. Humbert, 85, of North Canton.
He was taken to Aultman Hospital with serious injuries and died there just before 1 p.m.
Police say that first reports indicate both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation. No charges are being filed at this time.
Police say this is the second crash in 2016 resulting in a fatality. On May 26, a car / motorcycle crash occurred resulting in the death of the driver of the motorcycle and his female passenger suffering serious injuries.
