According to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, it's investigating an apparent attempt to induce panic at Lake Local Schools just before 8 a.m. today (April 13)
The Sheriff's Office said in a news release that the Lake School Administration learned of a social media post indicating a student may bring a gun to school about 7:40 a.m.
The middle school and high school both issued a lockdown from 7:40 a.m. to 7:51 a.m. and, during that time, the seventh grade student, 12, was identified and detained, according to the release.
No weapons were found and there was no indication that students or staff were in imminent danger, according to the sheriff's office.
The Stark County Sheriff’s Office says it has charged the student with delinquincy by inducing panic and the student was booked into the Multi-County Juvenile Attention Center.
Both schools resumed normal operations and will dismiss at the regular time.
