An 18-year old boy is dead and his 16-year-old brother suffered serious injuries after a one-vehicle crash in Stark County's Plain Township on Thursday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria driven by 18-year-old Aaron Laudermilt, failed to negotiate a curve on Middlebranch Ave. NE and went off the road. After the driver tried to overcorrect, the car struck a utility pole and then struck a large tree before coming to rest on the front steps of a house.

Aaron Laudermilt was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger and younger brother, 16-year-old Kevin Laudermilt, sustained serious injuries. He was taken by EMS to Mercy Medical Center before being transported to Akron Children's Hospital where he remains. There is no word on his condition.

Troopers say safety belts were used by both driver and passenger. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.
