Cars begin driving on Front St. in Cuyahoga Falls for first time in more than 40 years

An official celebration of the new downtown Cuyahoga Falls will be held in June.

Good news for anyone who drives around Cuyahoga Falls: For the first time in more than 40 years, there is vehicular traffic on Front St.

On Saturday, Mayor Don Walters officially re-opened the road to cars as a result of a $13 million project WKYC has been reporting about for some time.

The decision to close the road to cars was made to install a pedestrian mall, but it ended up hurting businesses in the area. Now, Mayor Walters hopes they will thrive with more visibility.
