2 from Cuyahoga Falls killed in head-on crash in South Carolina

Authorities tell 3News that a pickup truck went over the center line, striking a Ford SUV head-on early Saturday. Both people inside the Ford died at the scene.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. — Two people from Cuyahoga Falls have died following a weekend crash in South Carolina.

Authorities tell 3News the incident happened around 5:15 a.m. Saturday morning in Florence County near Lake City on US 378 near US 52.

Early investigation shows a 2014 Dodge pickup truck crossed over the center line and struck a 2017 Ford SUV head-on, according to authorities.

Both people inside the Ford died at the scene, which includes a 43-year-old driver and a 38-year-old passenger. Although their names have not yet been released, they have been identified as residents of Cuyahoga Falls.

The driver of the truck is a 21-year-old man of Malden, South Carolina. Authorities say he was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
