COPLEY -- One person is dead following a crash, which happened around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

The Canton Post of the Highway Patrol says the crash occurred when a semi drove on the ramp from I-77 North to Route 21.

Authorities say the driver failed to negotiate a curve due to speed, which caused the semi to strike a guardrail and overturn.

The driver, 69-year-old Joseph Bonner of Rootstown, died from injuries sustained in the accident.

Authorities closed the roadway for several hours.

Police say the cause of the accident is under investigation.
