AKRON -- Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh confirmed that Judge Tom Parker sentenced Greg Lamont Clark, 36, of Akron, to 19 years in prison, the maximum sentence possible.

On Dec. 6, 2012, Clark raped a fellow patient at Psychiatric Emergency Service.

Akron police responded and transferred Clark to Akron General Hospital's Psychiatric Unit.

Two days later, he attempted to rape a fellow patient there. The woman's roommate saw the attack and alerted staff.

While in a seclusion room awaiting police, Clark lit his hospital shirt and mattress on fire.

Clark was deemed incompetent in February 2013 and sent to Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare in Columbus.

He was restored to competency the following August.

On July 29, a jury found Clark guilty of rape, a felony of the first degree; attempted rape, a felony of the second degree; and arson, a misdemeanor of the first degree.
