TALLMADGE, Ohio — A traffic stop in Illinois last week has led to the recovery of a large quantity of marijuana in Tallmadge.

According to a post on their Facebook page, the Tallmadge Police Department says that the Illinois traffic stop led their K9 unit to a storage facility where 128 lbs. of marijuana and 508 containers of THC edibles were discovered.

K9 Officer Kato, a two-and-a-half-year old German Shepherd, was alerted to a storage unit indicating there were narcotics inside. K9 Kato's intel led to the Tallmadge Police Department obtaining a search warrant. Officers found the narcotics inside of the storage unit.

The Tallmadge Police Department writes that K9 Kato has been with the department and his handler, Officer Corzine, for two years. He enjoys his work with the department and protecting the City of Tallmadge.

In his free time, K9 Kato enjoys spending time with his family and playing with his ball.
