Rock Week kicks off with a bang!

The museum offered free admission! Thousands of people lined up to see the 2018 Inductees.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame kick-offed Rock Week with Celebration Day. The museum offered free admission! Thousands of people lined up to see the 2018 Inductees.

American rock icon, founding member of Bon Jovi, and 2018 Inductee Richie Sambora was there along with Australian guitar virtuoso Orianthi.

Many fans were excited to watch him perform, not only as the headliner, but as part of an impromptu performance before taking the main stage.

Fans also got to see the new ‘Hall of Fame’ on the third floor and get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to become an Inductee and hear stories about this year’s class in the 2018 Inductee exhibit.

The five artists on this year's ballot:

  • Bon Jovi
  • The Cars
  • Dire Straits
  • The Moody Blues
  • Nina Simone

Award for being an early influencer:

  • Sister Rosetta Tharpe

There were also live performances by the Backbeats, Diana Chittester, along with Wesley Bright and the Honey Tones, among others. With the live music playing, some families got to try some instruments, face painting and other kids craft.
