Akron School Board approves LeBron James Family Foundation 'I PROMISE' school

On Monday evening, the Akron School Board unanimously approved the proposed plan for the 'I PROMISE' School.

Promises kept.

On Monday evening, the Akron School Board unanimously approved the proposed plan for the 'I PROMISE' School. The LeBron James Family Foundation and Akron Public Schools have partnered to design a brand new school for the public school students in Akron who need it most.

There was a big turnout for the vote, with more than 75 supporters of the LeBron James Family Foundation in attendance.

The LeBron James Family Foundation launched the 'I PROMISE' Program in 2011, encouraging struggling students to stay in school.

The school will be a STEM, hands-on, problem-based learning focus with LJFF's ’We Are Family’ philosophy to create a complete wraparound for its students and their families.

The 'I PROMISE' school is scheduled to open its doors in the fall of 2018.
