CLEVELAND -- There's a new welcome when entering Playhouse Square.

Around 1 a.m. Friday, one of four new arches was installed above the intersection at Prospect and E. 14th.

It took crews approximately 30 minutes to get the arch in place.

This addition is just a small element of a massive $16 million renovation project, which includes new retro signage, fresh lighting and a large video board.

A 20 foot tall outdoor chandelier, which will shimmer above Euclid at E. 14th, is set to be the crowning jewel with more than 4,200 crystals. It will be unveiled during a ceremony on May 2. When it's complete, officials are hoping it will set a world record as the largest outdoor chandelier.

"Our goal is to take the beauty of what you see in this magnificent lobby, with the chandeliers and the ornamentation, and really take the beauty outdoors," said Art Falco, PlayhouseSquare CEO.

PlayhouseSquare is the largest performing arts center outside of New York City.
