FAIRVIEW PARK -- A Fairview Park police officer was struck when a vehicle lost control during a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday morning.
The officer was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Four cars were involved in the crash, which reduced I-480 east to one lane for hours.
The cars involved were pulled to the right side of the roadway to be towed.
The officer was struck when a car lost control, left the right side of the roadway and hit the officer as well as two cars involved in the original crash.
The officer is a 2 1/2-year veteran with the Fairview Park Police Department. His name has not been released.
