Channel 3 Sports is proud to continue its “Student-athlete Shout out” feature series during the 2016-17 school year. Each installment will spotlight the recent accomplishments of a Northeast Ohio high school athlete.

Orange senior soccer player Gabe Sugerman

Orange High School senior Gabe Sugerman has rewritten the Lions’ boys soccer record book during his decorated prep career on the pitch.

The captain holds the record for most goals scored in a season (33) and most points recorded in a season (75). Sugerman also tops the program charts for most career goals (71) and most career hat tricks (8). He ranks third in match appearances (60) and eighth all-time in assists (20).

In helping the team post a 12-2-1 overall record and a 6-0 mark in Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division play, Sugerman has tallied 28 goals and six assists from his forward position this fall.

“Everyone is aware of the talent Gabe brings to our team, but it is the other talents and skills he has that helps lead our guys,” head coach Jason Wild said. “As senior captain, he has earned his teammates’ respect by showing perseverance, compassion, support and by displaying his leadership skills on and off the field.”

A member of National Honors Society, Sugerman has routinely received recognition on the school’s highest honor roll. He also continues to serve as a leader of the school’s mock trial team.
