John's Take: Even after the draft, RG3 is the guy

For My Take, the Browns sent several messages during the draft about the quarterback position. I'm not buying them all.

First, the Browns traded out of the number two pick so that the Eagles could have Carson Wentz. That tells me the Browns do not believe Wentz is a franchise quarterback. I'm buying that.

The Browns then used a 3rd round pick on Cody Kessler out of USC. I saw him play a couple of times. It was nothing special in losses to Stanford and Wisconsin. The draft experts who have seen more tape say his biggest weakness is arm strength and he's more suited to play in a dome or out West, not in Cleveland in November and December. I'll buy that.

But what I'm not buying is the Browns saying Kessler will come in and compete for the number one spot. They have to say that but that's to push Robert Griffin III. They can talk about a quarterback competition but there's no controversy here.

RG3 is the best you have and he's the one that has the job until he gives it up, or the Browns go after that franchise quarterback in the future.

The biggest message the Browns sent in this draft is they're all in with RG3 as their quarterback. There's no question about that.
