WATCH | Isaiah Thomas receives standing ovation in Cleveland Cavaliers debut

Four months after being traded by the Boston Celtics, the 2-time All-Star has made his Cleveland Cavaliers debut.

CLEVELAND -- #thatSLOWgrind has come to an end. Four months after being traded by the Boston Celtics and eight months after last playing in an NBA game, Isaiah Thomas made his Cleveland Cavaliers debut on Tuesday night as his new team hosted the Portland Trail Blazers.

Thomas received a hero's welcome in his NBA return from the home crowd at Quicken Loans Arena, as he was greeted by a standing ovation as he checked into the game off the bench seven minutes into the first quarter.

The 2-time All-Star point guard promptly responded with an assist to former Celtics teammate Jae Crowder, before scoring the first basket of his Cleveland career on a pull-up jumper. Adding an and-1 layup to his cause, Thomas scored five points in his first quarter with the Cavs, whoa are currently tied with the Blazers at 28.

After averaging an Eastern Conference-best 28.9 points per game en route to earning All-NBA second-team honors last season, Thomas arrived in Cleveland last summer in the same trade that sent Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics. According to Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania, the 28-year-old will begin his Cavs stint on a minutes restriction, initially playing between 20-22 minutes per game, and it's already been announced that Cleveland will rest Thomas for its Wednesday night matchup against Boston.

Nevertheless, so far, it's been so good in Thomas' Cleveland debut.
