WATCH | LeBron James throws down monster 2-handed dunk against Los Angeles Lakers

James nearly lived up to his promise of dunking on Lonzo Ball.

CLEVELAND -- LeBron James didn't quite make good on his promise to a young Cleveland Clinic patient named Andrew that he'd dunk on Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball on Thursday night.

At least not yet. But the 4-time MVP has already come close.

With just under 5:42 remaining in the second quarter, Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard J.R. Smith drove the line and missed a wild layup, only to come up with his own offensive rebound. With the Lakers defense in disarray, that was enough time to help Smith find a cutting James, who proceeded to throw down a monster 2-handed dunk.

It wasn't Ball backing out the way -- as James had warned Andrew might happen -- but rather Los Angeles center Brook Lopez. That marked the start of a rough second quarter for Lopez, who proceeded to airball a pair of free throws before missing a point blank dunk.

James' dunk helped cut what was a Lakers lead to just three points, with the Cavs eventually taking a 63-60 lead into halftime. James now has 24 minutes of action left to dunk on Ball, after telling Andrew "I got you" when a slam over the polarizing rookie point guard was requested during a Wednesday visit to the Cleveland Clinic.
