Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett hosts back-to-school event with local youth

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is hosting a back-to-school kickoff with the United Way of Greater Cleveland on Monday and Tuesday.

CLEVELAND — While the start of the Cleveland Browns's 2022 season is nearly a month away, Myles Garrett is preparing for a different type of kickoff.

On Monday and Tuesday, the Browns' All-Pro defensive end is hosting a "Back-to-School Kickoff" with local youth. The event will take place from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the United Way of Greater Cleveland's offices.

Two hundred children involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio are currently expected to attend the event, where they will have the opportunity to meet and take pictures with Garrett. Those in attendance will also receive a Reebok-sponsored backpack with commonly-requested school supplies provided by the Browns, and United Way, such as notebooks, pens, and pencils to start the new school year with, as well as lunch boxes and backpacks from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Additionally, the Gentlemen’s Cave Luxury Barber Lounge will be offering free haircuts and styles on a first-come, first-served basis to the students between 9 a.m. and noon and 1 to 4 p.m. each day. Entertainment, snacks, and refreshments will also be available, with The R.A.K.E., or Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere, “Really Amazing Food Truck” (R.A.F.T.) serving lunch.

Reebok, who signed Garrett to a sponsorship deal earlier this year, will serve as the presenting sponsor of the event, which is being supported by the following partners: Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Guardians, The Gentlemen’s Cave Luxury Barber Lounge, Klutch Sports Group, R.A.F.T., R.A.K.E., Waiākea Hawaiian Volcanic Water and United Way of Greater Cleveland.

The No. 1 pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, Garrett was selected Garrett as the Browns’ Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2020.
