City of Cleveland warns lot closures may affect parking for Sunday's Browns game

The Muni Lot will open to tailgaters at 5 a.m., two hours earlier than normal.

CLEVELAND — *EDITOR'S NOTE: The video in the player above is from a previous story.

This Sunday's Browns game is setting up to be the biggest of the season so far, and FirstEnergy Stadium is liable to be packed.

But be warned: Parking will look a bit different for fans making the trek downtown.

The city of Cleveland is reminding people that both parking lots located at Superior Avenue and West 3rd Street — one on the east side of West 3rd and one on the west side — are currently closed due to construction. This will leave fewer options available for those seeking a shorter walk to the stadium, a matter further complicated by the fact that the RTA's Waterfront rail line is also still not running.

As always, parking restrictions remain in place throughout downtown from 10 a.m. to about two hours after the game ends. Signs will be placed on poles and posts in affected areas and violators will be ticketed and towed, with such vehicles being taken to the One Stop Vehicle Impound Center on Quigley Road.

Of course, the Muni Lot remains operational, and will actually open two hours earlier than normal at 5 a.m. with the usual $25 per space price. Vehicles entering can only line up on King Avenue eastbound to East 40th Street, then southbound on East 40th, and finally westbound on Lakeside Avenue.

The following rules and regulations for the Muni Lot remain in place:

  • No open pit fires
  • Propane grills only (No charcoal)
  • No alcohol
  • Saving spaces prohibited
  • You will be charged for all parking spaces that you occupy
  • No in & out privileges
  • All litter must be dispensed in trash containers
  • Vandalism of any type will not be tolerated
  • Crossing the shoreway is prohibited
  • No private latrines
  • Lanes must remain clear of activity at all times
