BOSTON MILLS -- Kent State senior Annie Rogers' got skills, but skiing isn't one of them. Before her first date with Olympic slopestyle skier Nick Goepper, we took her to the slopes.
Goepper won a bronze medal in the new slopestyle skiing event in Sochi.
"Nick put the contest up on his Twitter and Instagram saying he was going to take a fan on a date when he got back from Sochi, and one of my friends told me about it. I didn't even have a Twitter at the time," said Rogers.
She built one just for the contest, and her creativity won him over.
Rogers rewrote a love song, putting her singing and guitar-playing YouTube video in the #IwanttodateNick contest. The video and its outtakes got Goepper's attention.
Rogers agreed to a skiing lesson at Boston Mills Brandywine Ski Resort.
Annie was a great sport. That might not win you a medal at the Winter Games, but it could help her win an Olympian's heart.
"I think he owes me a little public embarrassment of his own. I think we should get Nick to do a televised singing lesson, dancing, guitar lesson, something like that. It's only fair right?" she said.
The two haven't made formal plans yet, but Annie says they are supposed to meet up in New York City the first week of April.
Boston Mills Brandywine is hosting its end-of-the-season Winter Carnivalthis weekend. Season passes for the 2014-2015 season are already on sale.
