PYEONGCHANG -- Lindsey Vonn is taking home a bronze medal after her final downhill ski event in the Olympics.

“Of course I would’ve liked a gold medal, but I mean, honestly, this is amazing. I’m so proud.”

Tears began streaming down her face as she discussed the feeling that this is her last Winter Games.

“It’s sad. This is my last downhill,” she told NBC. “I wish I could keep going, you know. I have so much fun. I love what I do. My body just probably can’t take another four years. I’m proud. I’m proud to have competed for my country. I’m proud to have given it my all.”

Vonn’s grandfather passed away last year, and she wore his initials on her helmet.

“I wanted to win so much because of him. But I still think I made him proud. Our family never gives up. I never gave up. I kept working hard, and I’m really proud of this medal. I know he is, too.”
