Is your old iPhone getting slower with each new update. It turns out you're not alone.

As we walked around the newsroom today, here were some of the complaints:

"My phone is slow."

"The main problem is that it's getting slower, and the battery life."

"It's getting slower, I've noticed that as the months have gone by and new iOS updates. It's slow to load. It gets hung up more."

They're even coming up with weird ideas about what's happening.

"This is what I really feel. Conspiracy theory I know. But I really think they intentionally slow the phones down. So you think 'oh there's a new phone out, I need to buy a new phone.' Purposely slow down older iPhone models. "

It turns out, those conspiracy theories are facts. Apple says it's an issue with the phone's battery when it's too cold, has a low charge, and as the battery gets older.

To compensate, Apple used software updates, saying:

"Last year we released a feature to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down during these conditions"

So what can you do about it? You can have a professional replace the battery for more speed. This will give you all your processing power back.

Or you can replace the phone entirely, which is more costly. Just know Apple says the feature isn't going away.

The moral of this story is: The next time your buddy blames Apple over phone issues, believe them.
