Dateline Cleveland: Ohio's School Funding Crisis

"As a leader in local programming it is important for Channel 3 to tackle serious community subjects in our long format Dateline Cleveland series," said WKYC President and General Manager Brooke Spectorsky, "and this was certainly one of our toughest. Feedback from the community indicated that foremost in the minds of residents is the issue of school funding, not just as it affects the region, but the whole state of Ohio."

"Our one-hour program, while baring amazing facts and figures, as well as providing sometimes shocking data, also gives hope and encouragement to those of us who call Ohio home," added Dateline Cleveland Writer-Producer-Director Dennis Goulden. "This Dateline is unique in that it is designed to really make viewers think about these issues and get them involved."

"Anyone who pays taxes, lives in Ohio, buys a home, has a family and a job, is directly impacted by what is happening in our schools. Dateline ties together a multi-faceted picture to help viewers understand what is happening in our schools and how they can can be part of the solution," added Goulden.

WKYC.com will provide extended video and audio downloads with material not featured in the show, interview transcripts and will air the show on line as well.

Dateline Cleveland is hosted by WKYC's Romona Robinson, with Education Reporter Kim Wheeler and Senior Political Correspondent Tom Beres contributing to the one-hour documentary. It is written, produced and directed by Dennis Goulden, edited by Vagn Steen with principal videography provided by Michael Greene.
