SANDUSKY, Ohio -- A new beast is casting its towering shadow over Sandusky waiting to unleash its fury.

But Cedar Point's record-breaking Steel Vengeance roller coaster will remain dormant for several months before finally roaring to life.

“Right now we’re scheduled to start testing after the trains arrive in the early part of April of next year,” project manager Adam Pooch said in Cedar Point’s latest YouTube video. “Temperatures are real critical. If it’s not warm enough we run into problems with cold bearings, and it’s just not as conducive as it is when it’s a little bit warmer.”

Although the track construction has been complete for weeks, park officials say there’s still a lot of work to be done.

“We have the electrical to do, the control system to do and install all those devices,” Pooch continued.

He said the brakes and control systems are being developed off-site.
