What do morning yoga classes, a train ride through Cuyahoga Valley National Park, speed-networking, ice cream tasting and a title boxing bout all have in common?
They are just some of the diverse activities planned for Engage Cleveland’s YP (Young Professionals) Week June 24 through July 2, sponsored by Key Bank.
WKYC is the media sponsor for YP Week and at noon on Friday, June 23, our entire We The People community affairs show will be devoted to previewing what’s happening during this busy week for local young professionals.
Host Tiffany Tarpley will interview an assortment of guests for a special show that promises to be as active as YP Week. She’ll stretch out with a yoga instructor, sample ice cream from a local creamery and take part in a live cram session to bone up on her social networking skills. She will also talk to organizers of the Ohio City Development Tour, another highlight of the week.
The point of the week is to show off all the fun things that Northeast Ohio has to offer millennials. “We’re proud to host the fourth annual Cleveland YP Week and help YPs fall in love with Cleveland,” said Engage Cleveland President Ashley Basile Oeken. “It’s our mission to attract, engage and retain young talent in Cleveland and exposing them to different activities, events and networks is a big part of making that mission a reality.”
The week kicks off on Saturday, June 24, at the new Edgewater Beach House and the closing party will be held June 30 at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. In between these events and even after the closing party, there are numerous other activities and events for people to enjoy. They range from various types of workout and volunteer activities, employment and engagement fairs to food and drink events. There are 4-5 events scheduled every day at various times to give all a chance to participate.
- A panel discussion about how Cleveland became a City of Champions with Indians owner Paul Dolan, Cavaliers President Len Komoroski and David Gilbert, CEO of Greater Cleveland Sports Commission;
- A BarreFly class incorporating yoga, Pilates, anti-gravity core and classic barre;
- The Art of Beer Tasting, a discussion of what goes into the perfect brew at Great Lakes Brewing;
- and a visit to the Cleveland Museum of Art to experience two of their summer exhibitions.
