WESTLAKE -- The single winning ticket for the $41 million Mega Millions Jackpot was sold in Westlake.
The winning ticket for the March 12 drawing was sold at Deli 4 Less on Center Ridge Road. Owner, Mark Hadad received an honorary check of $41,000 for selling the winning ticket.
Channel 3 News has confirmed a group of coworkers from TA Travel Centers are the lucky winners. Deli 4 Less is a frequent lunch spot for the employees.
"It's been lucky. I think it's been lucky, we've been selling a lot of winners, but not a big one like that," said Hadad.
"They buy a bunch of tickets all the time together. They always come in and they are excited," said Hadad of the winners.
A group of 14 employees from just two doors down at the corporate office for TA Travel Centers split the tickets, choosing their own numbers. Hadad says two women came in to purchase about $50 worth of tickets yesterday at lunch.
"It's exciting for us to be the person that sells it after two years," he said.
If the winners take the cash payout, the jackpot's worth $21.3 million, or about $1.5 million each.
If they do annuity payments, they'll each take home nearly $79,000 a year for 26 years.
While the lucky winners haven't shared their names, we expect they're sure to be good money managers.
A spokesperson for the group tells Channel 3 News all 14 members work in accounting.
"I'm wishing today if we can hit the Powerball, we'll be back to back," said clerk Nick Abuasi, who sold the winning ticket.
The group's spokesperson says all the winners showed up for work today. They're still letting it sink in before making plans for the big jackpot.
The Mega Millions jackpot win is the 17th for Ohio.
