Josh Gordon expectations, Pilot Flying J trial reaction: The Donovan Live Postgame Show

Jim Donovan and Dave DeNatale talk about the hype of Josh Gordon's return and the revelations coming in from the Pilot Flying J trial in Tennessee.

Josh Gordon is set to make his return to the NFL on Sunday when the Browns face the Chargers in Los Angeles.

The troubled wide receiver hasn't played a down in a regular season game since December of 2014 because of repeated violations of the league's substance abuse policy. You want to believe that this time will be different. That Lucy will actually hold the football and let Charlie Brown kick it.

My colleague Ben Axelrod wrote a terrific piece here on WKYC.com about how much hype the Browns are putting into Gordon's return. And although Hue Jackson says all the right things like, "our antennas are up everywhere," you know he is REALLY excited to turn the former All-Pro loose.

Is this fair to Gordon? Jimmy and I discussed all of the expectations surrounding Josh during Wednesday's Donovan Live Postgame Show.

Also on Wednesday, this was the first chance I had to talk with "The Voice of the Browns" about the revelations that came in the Pilot Flying J trial on Tuesday. Team owner Jimmy Haslam's voice was identified on a secret recording that came during the course of a seminar in which rebate fraud was discussed by Pilot executives.

Let's be clear: Haslam is not charged and has continued to deny any knowledge of or involvement in the scheme. But these almost daily headlines coming from the trial in Tennessee are nothing short of disturbing if you're a Browns fan.

Jim Donovan tried to address this case from the Haslams' point of view in our conversation. It's not easy for Jimmy and Dee Haslam to sit and hear everything that's being said in testimony and not be able to respond. But right now, that's all they can do while this process in Chattanooga plays itself out.

One thing is clear, we are all watching.
