Local lawmakers help distribute food for holidays

This is a season of giving, after all.

This is a season of giving, and Thursday, local and state legislators are lending a hand to help give food to those in need.

12 government officials came to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank for its monthly distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables. More than 1,500 people attended the distribution last month, and with more food coming in for the holidays, all help is welcome.

WKYC streamed the event live both on our site and on Facebook.

The lawmakers in attendance included four state senators, three state representatives, Cleveland City Councilman Kerry McCormack, County Councilman Dale Miller, and the mayors of Pepper Pike and Solon.

In November alone, the food bank claims it distributed more than 4 million meals in the area, and is on track to provide even more in December.
