CUYAHOGA COUNTY -- The total number of flu-related deaths this season is up to 26.

The Cuyahoga County Board of Health released new details Thursday that revealed an additional 10 people died from the flu between Jan. 11-17.

The deceased, which range in age from 81-99 years old, are from Cleveland, Bay Village, Euclid, Garfield Heights, Mayfield Heights and Westlake.

Despite the increase in deaths, health officials say this period saw the lowest level of flu activity since Nov. 16-22 with emergency department visits down 12 percent and doctor viists down 43 percent.

There have been 1,442 flu-related hospitalizations in Cuyahoga County this season to date.

This year's flu vaccination has been deemed less effective than normal since the virus that's circulating is not a good match for the shot.
