Marchers bring teddy bears during march for Alianna Defreeze

People who attended the march brought teddy bears to leave on porch of home on Fuller Avenue where Alianna's body was found.

A march and rally was held Saturday afternoon for 14-year-old Alianna Defreeze who was found dead on Sunday January 29, three days after she went missing. The event started at East 93rd Street and Kinsman Avenue, the last place Defreeze was seen alive.

Christopher Whitaker, 44, was arrested for Defreeze’s murder on Thursday February 2. Organizers planned Saturday’s march before that arrest, to put pressure on police to solve the case. Instead of marching to Cleveland’s 4th District Police Headquarters and demanding action, the group went there to shake hands with and hug officers for making a swift arrest.

People who attended the march brought teddy bears to leave on the porch of the abandoned home on Fuller Avenue where Alianna's body was found.

Alianna’s family says they won't have anything close to closure until there is a conviction in this case. But Whitaker’s arrest did lift some of the family’s and the community’s burden.
