North Royalton student takes part in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

A junior at North Royalton High School, Andrew plays in the school band and even took part in the 2017 Tournament of Roses Parade.

A local student will be on the big stage today, displaying his talents for not only the millions in New York, but millions watching at home as well.

"I've always seen the Macy's Great American Marching Band on TV every Thanksgiving," Andrew Seifert said. "I just decided to audition, and I got in."

A junior at North Royalton High School, Andrew plays in the school band and even took part in the 2017 Tournament of Roses Parade.

Now, it's his biggest feat yet: At age 16, he'll be right along side the dancers, balloons, and all that make up the spectacle of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

With millions watching in person and millions more watching at home, it might be tempting for Andrew to try and throw in a shout out or a, "Hi mom!"

"I don't want to break character or anything, because that might be embarrassing for me if somebody in the parade itself finds out," he said. "But, if the opportunity presents itself, I'll probably do it."

As far as what the Macy's Great American Marching Band will be playing?

"That's under wraps."

When he gets done playing whatever it is he'll be playing, he'll have a Thanksgiving dinner in New York City before returning to the halls of North Royalton High, and this year he has a little more to be thankful for.

"I'm just thankful that I can be able to showcase my talents in a big location, in a big event," he said.
