CHESTER TOWNSHIP -- A standoff incident ended peacefully Monday night after an armed man remained inside his residence for hours.
According to Chester Township police, officers responded to a welfare check just before 7 p.m. at the 12400 block of Sperry Road. When officers arrived, they attempted to converse with a 47-year-old man, who brandished a weapon in the officers' direction. The man retreated into the house, forcing officers to establish a perimeter.
A standoff followed for 13 1/2 hours, until the man voluntarily exited the home and surrendered around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation.
Authorities say no one was injured during the incident.
