Avon Lake has a new feathered friend.
The bald eagle couple whose nest resides at Redwood Elementary School welcomed a new baby eaglet Friday morning, with the first of their two eggs hatching around 9:44 a.m.
The eagles, fittingly named "Stars" and "Stripes" by the students, laid the eggs just over a month ago, and school officials say there is a tiny hole in the second egg, meaning it should be ready to hatch soon.
As they did in 2015, Redwood has set up the "Avon Lake Bald Eagle Cam" so viewers can track the progress of the nest live. Watch below!
