The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle crash that resulted in serious injuries Thursday morning.

Authorities say semi truck was traveling west on U.S. Route 30 when it struck a Ford Focus and a Chevrolet Cavalier around 11:17 a.m. The ford apparently had a flat tire and the Chevy was following it close behind with its hazard lights on, partially on the right berm.

The truck hit the Chevy first, sending it into the concrete barrier on the north side of the road. The Ford was then struck by both the Chevy and the tractor trailer. All three vehicles sustained significant damage.

The driver and passenger of the Ford Focus were both taken to Aultman Hospital in Canton with "incapacitating" injuries, while the driver and passenger of the Chevy Cavalier both sustained lesser injuries. Their exact conditions are unknown at this time.

The driver of the truck was uninjured in the crash, which remains under investigation. Officials say alcohol was not a factor.
