Crestwood Local Schools suspends football games until further notice

The Crestwood Local School District canceled Friday's football game and suspended its football operations until further notice.

In a town painted red, you don't have to talk about a big high school football game, you can literally see the writing on the walls.

But in Mantua, the chatter on Friday wasn't about the preparations for win for Crestwood High School, it's about why the team never even got a chance to hit the field.

The Crestwood Local School District canceled Friday's football game and suspended its football operations until further notice.

A senior on the team told WKYC Channel 3's Dorsena Drakeford that there are accusations of bullying and hazing a freshman on the team. But he says all the rumors are not true.

Despite the denial, parents were called by Crestwood Superintendent David Toth, who provided the statement below:

“The Crestwood Local School District has suspended all High School football operations effective immediately until such time as the Superintendent announces otherwise. No further comment shall be made at this time due to state and federal privacy laws. Any and all updates regarding this matter will be issued by the Superintendent only.”

The Mantua Police Department posted the following note on the matter on their Facebook page:
