Weather across the nation on January 17, 2018

Bright, dry weather is finally in store for the winter-fatigued eastern United States tomorrow.

Windy conditions are poised to batter the Midwest and mid-Atlantic, however.

In a change from recent weeks, temperatures are expected to rise to near-normal levels, rising into the 20s even throughout New England. While it will be cloudy there, the majority of the eastern two-thirds of the country will enjoy sunny weather.

A cool day is in store for the Gulf Coast from southern Texas to the Florida Peninsula; clouds and showers will plague the former. Meanwhile, a storm moving through the Pacific Northwest will keep the region cool, wet and blustery.

Rain and high-elevation snow are expected from Sacramento through Seattle and western Montana.
